A new leak suggests that OnePlus is preparing to release a handset with the largest battery capacity the company has ever offered.
According to comments shared by OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis on Weibo, the upcoming OnePlus 15R — also known in China as the OnePlus Ace 6T — is expected to ship with an 8,300mAh battery. If accurate, this would exceed the already substantial 7,300mAh unit inside the OnePlus 15 and surpass the capacity found in most mainstream smartphones. Devices with larger batteries typically fall into the rugged, oversized category designed for extended outdoor use.
The OnePlus 15R is also reported to support 100W charging. While this is slightly below the 120W charging offered by the flagship OnePlus 15, it should still allow for exceptionally fast top-ups.
A more affordable variant
In previous generations, OnePlus has released “R” and “T” versions alongside its main series, offering scaled-back specs at lower prices. For example, the OnePlus 13R and 13T served as cheaper alternatives to the OnePlus 13, though global release of these variants has varied from year to year.
Early indications suggest the 15R will see an international launch, though exact markets have yet to be confirmed. The phone is scheduled to be officially unveiled on Wednesday, December 17, and is expected to feature strong dust and water resistance.
Pricing is anticipated to be in line with the earlier 13R model at around $599 / £679. These devices have historically not been available in Australia.
OnePlus began hinting at the new model earlier this month, and more details are expected to emerge as the launch date approaches.
