Google Confirms New Fitbit Devices Planned for 2026

Google has confirmed that fresh Fitbit hardware will arrive in 2026, marking the company’s first major update to its fitness lineup in several years.

The announcement came alongside the preview of Fitbit Coach, a personalized health and fitness assistant that will officially launch next year alongside the new devices. The redesigned Fitbit app is also set for a full rollout in 2026, with the Fitbit team hinting at “an exciting year ahead.”

The most recent Fitbit tracker, the Charge 6, debuted in September 2023. Before that, the Inspire 3 was released in 2022, along with the Versa 4 and Sense 2 smartwatches. More recently, Fitbit introduced the Ace LTE — a Wear OS–powered smartwatch for kids priced at $180 — which technically counts as the latest device in its lineup.

As the Pixel Watch line continues to mature, it appears unlikely that Google will produce any new Fitbit OS smartwatches. Instead, the company may continue focusing on fitness trackers, such as successors to the Inspire and Charge series. These devices are typically more affordable — with the Inspire 3 priced around $100 and the Charge 6 at $160 — and are often discounted.

Because Fitbit Coach is not exclusive to the Pixel Watch, there’s a clear incentive for Google to keep offering lower-cost fitness wearables below the $350 price of its flagship smartwatch. Fitbit trackers still hold distinct advantages, including up to a week of battery life, a compact design, and compatibility with iOS devices.

Currently, the Pixel Watch 3 starts at around $250, with some retailers offering discounts that push it closer to the price range once dominated by Fitbit smartwatches. Still, there remains a strong market for fitness-oriented devices — and potentially for a more durable, “Ultra”-style Wear OS watch featuring a lightweight plastic body and rectangular design for improved battery efficiency.
