Samsung is set to introduce its first device with a tri-folding display, with the launch reportedly planned to coincide with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, scheduled for October 31 to November 1.
Galaxy Z TriFold on the horizon
The upcoming model, expected to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold, will build on Samsung’s foldable lineup by adding two hinges that allow the phone to fold into three segments. This design aims to provide flexibility in form and function, moving beyond the book-style fold seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
When completely unfolded, the screen is expected to match the size of a full tablet. Folded shut, it will resemble a standard smartphone, while a partially open position will mimic the large inner display of the Z Fold 7.
Expected specifications
Leaks suggest the device will feature a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage. It is also expected to launch with Android 16 running Samsung’s One UI 8.0 software.
On the rear, the Galaxy Z TriFold could house a 200MP main camera, a 12MP autofocus-equipped ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Two 10MP front cameras are also anticipated.
While the device’s battery details remain undisclosed, the unique folding design suggests Samsung is aiming for a product that bridges the gap between phone and tablet, offering multiple display configurations in a single device.
